Grant Programs
ChangeUp Grants
We have found that some of the most innovative and effective young people are those who have personally experienced racism, prejudice, and discrimination. However, many of these young adults “age out” of programs and are left without meaningful opportunities to apply their newfound skills and confidence in the wider society. This quandary is further complicated by the fact that many of these young people lack access to professional networks, generational wealth, and/or formalized education. The ChangeUp grants aim to expand the circle of influence of these young changemakers and help forge a pathway to power in order for them to affect systemic change. A one-time, $10,000 grant will be given to eligible project costs by young people aged 18 to 34 who are actively addressing issues of discrimination and prejudice in their communities through creative solutions for progress. We aim to support these young agents of change to open minds and shift attitudes that perpetuate prejudice and exclusion based on ethnicity, race, or religion through the implementation of creative strategies.

Media and Arts Impact Grants
Our research into media impact shows that film, video, podcasting, digital platforms, creative places and spaces, traditional and social media, written and spoken word, and performance and visual art are powerful tools for exploring the human condition to inspire, facilitate, and accelerate social change. Essential approaches like storytelling, bearing witness, representation, contemplation, provocation, and motivation are particularly effective in helping powerful ideas transcend borders, social circles, faith groups, or localities. The Media and Arts for Change grants aim to support initiatives among young people while transforming institutional media outlets and shaping productive public discourse. The program provides $25,000 to $100,000 per year to eligible grantees toward initiatives that illuminate and promote inclusion and pluralism or challenge discrimination and exclusion. These initiatives must be led by a single grantee and implement media- and/or arts-based strategies that can open minds, shift attitudes, and build good relations between diverse groups or communities in Canada.
